Josh Rosenblum
Press Kit

Award-winning rock Guitarist singing soulful songs with popular appeal. Living on the Central California Coast, Josh writes all his music, plays multiple instruments and produces all his records.

With musical roots in jazz, Josh's sound today combines genres of rock, soul and pop to create original music that is mass appeal.  Writing songs and playing live shows since he was 16, Josh captures what we love about music — stories that move us with the shared pain and joy that life deals.  He writes, sings, plays all instruments and produces his own music. Josh released his 7th studio album, Love Letter, in August 2023.

With Love Letter, Josh  has served up his most personal work yet. The album is a heartfelt story, each chapter detailing his passion for music, while juggling all the emotions he feels while being on the road, away from his family, in an open and honest way.

2020 was a pivotal year for Josh. He had just signed with indy label Pacific Records and was ready to hit to road to promote his latest release when the pandemic hit, putting his career on hold.  He also welcomed his first child in April.

For the next 2 years, Josh did what thousands of artists were also doing: creating music, searching for truth, assessing life. Love Letter is a gorgeous and raw autobiographical look into the dueling emotions felt when doing the things we love, with a price to pay.

“It’s impossible to overstate the depth of Josh Rosenblum’s talent. Themulti-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter’s rich and emotive voice soars andhis musicianship sparkles on his new album, Love Letter, a 17-song collectionthat displays his versatility and soulful delivery. It was the clear frontrunnerfor the 2023 New Times Music Awards’ Album of the Year—
a well-deserved winfor an artist on the cusp of stardom.”

Making Love Letter

Influences

Josh took inspiration from his musical roots, fusing them together to make a streamlined southern rock sound, paying tribute to the sensibilities of artists such as Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Chris Stapleton, Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz, Zac Brown Band, and Tedeschi Trucks Band.  Having always been drawn to the country genre for its story-telling appeal, he started to lean more into this writing style that fit so naturally with the song content at this point in his music.

Recording Love Letter

For over 2 years Josh squeezed a full Mapex drum kit, bass, guitars, a fender hot rod deluxe, a keyboard, all of his recording gear, and himself into the little 3rd bedroom of his house.

Josh performs almost every instrument on the album with accompaniment on only a few tracks from his longtime band. He wanted the tones on this album to directly reflect the consistency of his live sound, so on the majority of the tracks he favors his 1994 Fender Stratocaster and his Martin 000 (both strung with D’Addario strings) - which are also the guitars he wrote every song on.

The album was recorded using Reaper and two Focusrite 18i20’s, and for this particular record Josh favored the dynamic sound of the AKG Perception for his vocals. From using a shot glass as a slide, to tapping an allen wrench on a coffee mug, Josh stayed open to new ways to keep his music fresh and evolving.

"With lashings of country, pop, blues and jazz, "Crazy As Me" really sets itself up to be
one of America’s finest tracks of 2023. This reviewer will certainly be looking to see
what more Rosenblum has to offer on a full length. It’s a single track is anything
to go by, you’re in for a treat.

It was a full house on this beautiful central coast day and Josh had the crowd dancing to both originals and covers with his perfectly curated setlist. His brother Andrew, an accomplished sax player, guested on this show which added another dimension! Josh recorded the show from the soundboard and plans to release a live album.
